The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way people around the world are getting an education and conducting business. Since March, many tribal events and conferences have been postponed or cancelled. Others have moved to virtual platforms, which is the case for the 2020 First Alaskans Institute’s Elders and Youth Conference and the 2020 Alaska Federation of Natives Annual Convention. Alaska Native people are discussing how to make positive changes with a path forward even during these difficult times while celebrating Indigenous languages, cultures and identity. This episode of ANV includes interviews with young people, a grassroots leader and Elders and Youth Conference organizers.
Alaska’s Native Voice (ANV) 2020 is a two-part special, which airs during gavel-to-gavel coverage of the Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN) Annual Convention. The program features discussions with Alaska Native people, hosted by Antonia Gonzales (Navajo).
